Township 7 Vineyards & Winery 2012 Merlot

Our most popular red, this Merlot is juicy and full of fresh south Okanagan vineyard expression. The nose shows pronounced red fruits like cherry and raspberry with hints of toffee and Darjeeling tea aromas. Plum and black cherry dominate on the palate, with nuanced cocoa, earth and leather on the finish. An elegant tannic structure makes this accessible now, but will also see it cellar well to 2018. This wine calls out for a grilled steak, hearty tomato and meat pastas, roasted lamb, or medium to hard cheese. Unfiltered, decanting recommended.

4 out of 5 starsReviewed on June 16, 2015

Rich and almost buttery with spice box, espresso, vanilla bean, and ginger with black cherries and plum fruits. A little cabernet in the blend adds a little punch, while flavours lean towards black berry and tartness. Should calm down a little over the next three years, but in the meantime, pair against a nice porterhouse or striploin on the barbecue. CSPC +735474 $26
