Kitten Swish For When Medication Is Required 2013 Zinfandel

The 2013 growing season in Alexander Valley was fantastic. An early season for bud break and veraison lead to an even growing season with moderate temperatures and mild early season rain. Harvest was clean, abundant and long, giving growers a chance to harvest at optimal ripeness. The wines show perfect aromatic qualities and ripe, seamless structures. There was greater tannin structure in 2013 than in 2012 or 2011 for Stuhlmuller Vineyard Zinfandel. The wine will take a little longer to come around and may show more closed upon release. A benefit for the cellar! Our Zinfandel comes from block’s 15 and 17 from the Stuhlmuller vineyard. As usual there is roughly 17 percent field harvested and co-fermented Petite Sirah. 10 percent whole cluster along with whole berries were fermented in open top stainless steel tanks. American and French barrels were used, 20 percent of which were new. The wine was transferred to older barrels and from these I selected 2 badass barrels that worked well together.
