Wine Basics — Grape Varietals 101: Carmenere
Wine Basics — Grape Varietals 101: Albariño (aka: Alvarinho)
This wine was a very nice surprise. We decanted it, and let it sit for a while. The nose was not terribly appealing - very earthy, and almost no fruit on the nose at all. We were pleasantly surprised when we tasted it however, as it tasted far better than it smelled. It was quite delicious, all on its own, and didn't require any food to soften it up. It is a big bold lush wine. We have had it in our cellar for a couple of years, so it has had time to soften up nicely. We actually give this one a 4 1/2 out of 5 rating! Would love to have more of the Gramercy Cellars wines, if this was a good example of their wines!
