Il Falcone Riserva
A complex wine, elegant and austere that signifies the great potential of the Nero di Troia (about 70%), the main indigenous variety of the DOC Castel del Monte, that provides its essence, character and elegance, combined with other local varieties that provide to its harmony. Aged in French oak for at least 14 months and for a further year in bottle, goes well with red meats, game and mature cheeses. Well-preserved, shows great aging capacity. Dense garnet-red; multi-layered bouquet of ripe wild red berry fruit, leather, pipe tobacco and spice; rich palate, austere, very lengthy and well-balanced.

Il Falcone Reserva 2008
Italy is known as the most diverse of wine makers on the planet. Wine is made in literally every corner of the country that was once named Oenotria “the land of the vine”. There is some very well hidden gems created throughout and we are happy to offer one of these secrets. Il Falcone is born to Puglia (the heel of the boot) and currently boasts a 93 point rating. If, ever I brought home a score of 93 my mom was pretty darned excited!
It is leaning towards full bodied and is bright and lively on the palate with dense flavours of sweet and sour dark cherry and loads of eccentric complexity. It truly is a polished wine style and perfect for late season grilling or roasted dinners. It not however a libation or cocktail style wine. It is best with food, begging for a companion to dance the evening away.
