Peter Franus 2013 Chenin Blanc

Very pale straw in color, our 2013 offers a racier version than the more opulent 2012. Once again classic perfumed aromas of Chenin shine through--apple, peach, honey, and mineral held in check by a lively and firm structure. Refreshing is a character I seek in all my wines, but I can offer no better example than this one to confirm that goal.

Wow! So smooth and silky you'd swear it was aged in French Oak or on it's lees! A very aromatic wine, with tons of apple, pear, Honeydew Melon and Raw Honey on the nose...and a hint of minerality and vanilla bean for interest.  On the palate, you get the Bartlett pear and ripe green apple and melon, but also a slate/flint quality and that vanilla bean that suggests the neutral French Oak it spent time in! With a silky, long finish, it reminds us of the fantastic Vouvray wine out of the Loire! An exceptional reminder of just how great the classic Chenin Blanc grape can be!!
