Papapietro Perry Winery specializes in small lots of handcrafted, single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Zinfandel produced from the finest grapes the Russian River, Anderson and Dry Creek Valleys have to offer. In addition, they are now producing a limited amount of Chardonnay and Rosé. From humble beginnings 30 years ago, they are now producing a wide range of wines that are highly sought after and in small production lots. Ben & Yolanda Papapietro and Bruce & Renae Perry are the partners and owners of the winery, Ben and Bruce forming a friendship from their previous career endeavors developed their love for wine into what is now an amazing range wines for our enjoyment.
The 2014 Russian River Pinot Noir is a blend of selected fruit from premium Pinot Noir vineyards in the Russian River appellation, namely Leras Family Vineyards, Peters Vineyard, Nune Vineyard, Bucher and Vin Noy Vineyards. Only 902 cases were produced it has spent 11 months maturing in French oak – equal thirds of new, one year old French oak barrels and 2 year old barrels.
Drinking exceptionally well now, this wine can develop further with 2 to 3 years in the cellar, in the glass it shows a light ruby cloak with aromas and flavors of raspberry, strawberry, sweet spice and subtle toasty oak notes, it is delicious with a cedar plank salmon dish.
