Numanthia 2005 Tinta de Toro

After a cold, wet start to the year which pushed budding back to May, a dry spell kept the vines healthy until temperatures rose markedly in August. The contrast between hot days and cool nights favored ripening, while September’s continuing warm weather and minimal rainfall enabled the grapes to achieve optimal acidity. The ten-day harvest started on September 15th, yielding an intensely aromatic, finely structured wine.

4 out of 5 starsReviewed on July 22, 2015

We uncorked a Magnum (1.5L) of 2005 Numanthia Tinta de Toro.  The large format has kept the wine delectably fresh.  There is loads of Kirsch and dark berries on the nose with dust and flowers.   It is ripe and aromatic. A full bodied and smooth texture is made all the more exciting by deep, pure dark fruit and hints of vanillin oak and baking spices with a dollop of Balsamic savouriness. She is a thing of beauty providing a long and elegant finish. Drink now through 2018
