Wine Basics — Grape Varietals 101: Sangiovese
Wine Basics — Grape Varietals 101: Aglianico
Oh the joys of Oenotria (Italy)! The first glance and sniff and you will be whisked away into Tuscany. This 2010 Is Ruby in colour with an inkling of mahogony at the edges. The nose packs a Tuscan punch of toast, cherry, moist leather boots and barnyard. The palate is sultry, soft, sweet & sour cherry filled with supple tannin and juicy acidity. There is a nice long savory finish.
This is drinking well now but will liekly open up and evolve over the next 3 years and offer a more revealing personality. This juicy medium bodied wine with a little ginger snap note to it is best served with food. Classic Italian fare would be the best bet!
