Ken Wright Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2014

The Willamette Valley Pinot Noir cuvée is made from the same vineyards Ken uses to make his cult-status single- vineyard Pinot Noirs. However, because the Willamette Valley cuvée was originally conceived as an entry-level wine, it sells for roughly half as much as the single vineyard bottlings. Despite the dramatic price differential, the quality difference is shockingly slight. Gorgeously perfumed, complex and silky, the principal difference is that it is made in a more fruit-forward, less overtly tannic, and more approachable, style. I craft the blend to be extremely enjoyable right off the bat, Ken explains, it's lush and full of pure, Pinot fruit, reflecting that it's a blend of grapes from blocks of our best single vineyard sites, rather than from a single vineyard alone.
