JoieFarm 2013 Gamay Noir

Dark cherry aromas give way to white pepper, sage, and meaty aromas. The ripe bramble fruit on the palate is accented by notes of white pepper, coffee, and bacon flavours, balance with vibrant acidity. This wine has enough supple tannins to be enjoyed with a steak and enough fruit to be enjoyed on its own. Excellent with lamb chops, game meat terrines, rich fish such as salmon and smoked black cod, bbq ribs, earthy potato dishes, and mushrooms.

A little dirty, savoury and smoky indeed! this wine is rich, luscious and bright, with a ton of red fruit and a dirty gaminess that screams for grilled meat and mushrooms! Tonight: Grilled pork shoulder blade steak with mushroom cream sauce and steamed root vegetables. But I will have to try this with mushroom risotto and Lamb as suggested - Tracy: a second bottle if you please!! Delicious!! Another stellar example of what BC wines are, can and should be!!
