Land's Edge Vineyards 2012 Pinot Noir

The nose leads with black cherry and black raspberry, balanced with aromas of crushed quartz and dried rose petal. The layered flavors of dark berries, licorice and dried flowers lead to a mid-palate with elegant and polished texture. The wine ends with a lingering mocha and mineral finish. Land's Edge Pinot Noir is sourced from vineyards located at the 'Land's Edge' of the Sonoma Coast AVA. The vineyards are driven by a maritime influence producing a small but concentrated crop of Pinot Noir that is harvested in late September through mid-October. The foggy coastal climate preserves natural acidity in the grapes and helps delineate the purity of fruit flavors and expression of the unique coastal terroir in this wine. Balanced acidity, layers of complexity and firm tannins will allow for long and graceful aging of Land's Edge Vineyards Pinot Noir.

Enjoyed this bottle on a snowy almost-spring day. The yummy taste follows a gorgeous boquet. So fantastic! A great sipper, elegant, sophiscated - but not pretenious.

A Great Pinot -- fruit-forward, and very fragrant.

Tasted a sharper (more tannins?) and the colour was deep/dark compared to other Pinots I've tried. Good flavour, quite acidic. Would have be great with food.

Cherry on the nose. Medium tannin content. Loved the long and sweet finish of this wine.

I'm not a big red wine drinker and as a result my less than experienced tastebuds may not be the best to go off so feel free to take everything I say with a grain of salt. That said, I actually quite enjoyed the Land's Edge. It was fruity but not overly sweet and not particularly dry which appealed to me. The verdict, I enjyoed it and would probably drink it again when I got the chance!

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Pungent cherry and dark berry aromas are complicated by Indian spice and floral nuances. Broad and chewy in texture, offering sappy blackberry and cherry-cola flavors that provide impressive palate coverage. Gripping tannins build on the long, spicy finish, which leaves notes of bitter cherry and candied lavender behind." 92 Pts
