Domaine Weinbach Cuvée Théo 2016 Riesling

Dry. Cuvée Théo Riesling comes exclusively from the monopole Le Clos des Capucins, which sits at the base of the celebrated Schlossberg Hill. Taking its name from the Capuchin friars who arrived here in 1619, the Clos is well protected from winds by the surrounding hills and by the walls enclosing it. The soils here consist of sand, alluvial pebbles and granitic gravel. Here the low cropping vines give birth to a deep Riesling that's nonetheless supple, pithy and beautifully accessible young, reflecting the sandy soils. Expect layers of sweet, ripe fruit with lemon pith and brown spice notes and racy, juicy close.
