Wine Basics — Grape Varietals 301: Chardonnay
Not usually a Chardonnay fan but I enjoyed this one.
Bright, crisp acidity, and the suble kiss of oak in the form of a lovely creamy, lemon curd mouthfeel and a hint of almond let the bright fruit character shine through on this Chardonnay. I love the restraint and elegance that Canadian winemakers are showing with this classic grape!
I love the subtle oak on this wine. It's not over the top but it's still there in the background. The Chardonnay grape shines through without too much manipulation in the winery. Lots of fruit, rich texture, balanced with good acidity.
