Le Vieux Pin 2012 Cuvee Violette
Cuvee Violette, as the name suggests, displays the perfumed and floral side of this noble grape variety. The palate is silky smooth thanks to a gentle ferment with focus on allowing the feminine and graceful qualities of Syrah to come to the foreground.

So Tracy, My Somm is slowly converting me to Syrah/Shiraz! Anyone who knows me, or has even spoken to me once at my store will know I am THE CHAMPION of Canadian Wine and Winemakers...and it is wines like this one that answer "Why?!" This is, quite simply a very pretty wine! Delicate (not a word I would normally associate with Syrah!) and floral on the nose, but with good fruit and some Oak influence coming through. That pretty delicacy is translated on the palate, but with good structure and elegance and classic Syrah red fruit. I get the smoke and savoury, but not to a great degree...still, paired really well with brisket. I would like to try this in and with Julia Child's Classic Boeuf Bourguignon and some Herb Bread!
