Cass 2012 Mourvèdre (Monastrell)

A Cass cult favorite! Normally a blending grape, this single varietal wine was aged in 100% neutral French oak barrels. The nose initially displays bright red cherry, fresh cranberry and dragon fruit scents. Mourvedre’s unique varietal characteristics of caramel, forest floor and charcuterie highlight hints of fresh cut mint. On the palate, bright acidity pops open, in the true Mourvèdre fashion. Complex flavors are showcased with notes of pomegranate, dried cranberries, whole white peppercorns and crushed geranium flowers

Pure ruby colour and medium in intensity. The nse is very interesting and I found bread/butter, walnuts, nutella and some cherry.  A little bit of a quiet nose but layered. The palate is soft and full of red cooked fruit and lots of mid palate concentration, medium tannins and low aciditity.  It is savory and developed in its personality dominated by deep red fruit. Perfect with a homeade burger, pork and almost anything grilled.  An easy sipping wine!
