Brooks Amycas 2016 White Blend

Amycas is a delightful, crisp and floral blend of Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Muscat with good acidity and lovely aromatics. In Greek mythology, Amycas was the son of Poseidon. A boxer, King of the Bebryces, and a one-time Trojan, he covered a lot of territory over the course of his short life. His bold and wandering nature fits with our Amycas White Table Wine blend. Amycas is a delightful, crisp and floral blend of Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Muscat with good acidity and lovely aromatics. It is inspired by the Edelzwicker (edel = noble, zwicker = blend) wines found in Alsace, and like its French cousins is very pleasureable, with or without food.

This noble white blend really does deserve 5 stars. The amicability of all 5 grapes is a wonder: the Riesling brings racy acidity and lime flavours to balance the lower acidity and tropical fruit of the Gewurtztraminer; the Muscat offers floral aromas and a distint grapey flavour; Pinot Gris is complex with stone fruit leading into a hint of smoke and finally Pinot Blanc provides body and lively minerality with melon and pear. Everything you need is in this glass. Pair with lime and passionfruit ceviche for an unbelievable experience.

Wine Enthusiast:  "This is one of those kitchen sink blends that is better than it has a right to be. Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris are all in the mix, and the wine is both aromatic and packed with fresh flavors of bubble gum and tropical fruit candy. It's finished dry, yielding a multipurpose, unique white wine that you may try with just about any food you'd put in front of any of the component grapes." 90 Pts.
