Wine Basics — Grape Varietals 101: Grenache (aka: Garnacha)
Celebrate International Grenache Day on the 3rd Friday in September
"The Blend" is very expressive! It is also VERY Chilean. Meaning the nose is full of interesting pyrazines and lifted jalapeno notes and capsicum. It is also Chilean in its delivery of perfectly ripe fruit. Its a great mix of red and black fruit all surrounded by a little caramel , toast and spice from the Frnech Oak it was nurtured in. This is essentially Chile's take on Chateauneuf du Pape. The Grenache and Mourvedre are so vibrant in this wine and really dominate the characteristics. Its a bright and fresh wine yet laiden with deep concentration and a super long finish. Its gem! Cocktail it, cellar it or pair red meat dishes or rack of lamb!
