Altamira de los Andes Navigato Grand Reserve

The 2008 Navigato Family Selection is a blend of 40% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% Malbec aged for 24 months in French oak before bottling without filtration. Complex aromas of wood smoke, violets, exotic spices, and assorted black fruits lead to a loaded, exceptionally concentrated, layered wine that has the structure to evolve for another 2-3 years. It will be at its best from 2014 to 2023. Score - 93. (Jay Miller,RobertpParker, Dec. 2011)

As Alberta’s premium full service liquor stores we are proud to offer our members and patrons a vast selection of fine wine, spirits & beer. Each week in our ads we feature all the hottest brands, best values and regularly feature premium items on sale for unbeatable prices. This week is no exception!

Featured in our premium offers ad is this hidden gem of a wine from the high altitudes vineyards of the Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina. Fed by glacial melt from the Andes mountains and blessed with a long dry and very sunny growing season the Uco Valley boasts perfect conditions to ripen her grapes and produce wonderfully dense and utterly full bodied wines that we have grown to love here in Alberta.

A wonderful blend of %40 Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and %30 Malbec the Navigato Grand Reserve has been produced form 100% estate grown fruit. The Malbec vines are 61 years old and it shows in the depth of character and layers of flavour found in this long drinking fine wine. It is intensely coloured and dark as night. Aroma’s of blueberry pie, black currents, and cloves lift from the glass. It is still very young on the palate with a blueberry freshness and hints of violets. It is full bodied but light on its feet with a soft, round and plush mouth feel. The influence of French Oak is obvious as the finish lingers for a minute or more. Can be enjoyed now or cellared for another decade easy!
