Concrete vats were used centuries ago and Okanagan Crush Pad winery has returned to this time honoured practice based on the superb impact on wine quality. Concrete acts like oak, without imparting oak flavours and allows us to craft the style of wine that we feel celebrates the natural beauty of the Okanagan. During festival, tastings of our Haywire Pinot Gris, one stainless steel aged, the other “Raised in Concrete”, will demonstrate the difference concrete makes. Both wines are outstanding; similar and familiar, yet very individual. Gift packages ($49) containing one bottle of each wine are on offer exclusively during festival at the winery visitor lounge. Concrete 101 Tours and Tastings held daily 10:30am to 5:30pm of both wines and other Haywire “Raised in Concrete” wines crafted by our internationally acclaimed winemaking team Matt Dumayne, Jordan Kubek, David Scholefield, and Alberto Antonini.
