Where It All Began | The Legacy of Tinhorn Creek Vineyards

Tinhorn Creek Vineyards was founded by Kenn and Sandra Oldfield and Bob and Barb Shaunessy in 1993 with a focus on growing the best grapes, making great wine, and having fun whenever we can.

What started with a couple of barrels in the basement of a house and a few acres of vines has grown into a thriving winery; attracting a group of talented people committed to making outstanding wines in the south Okanagan.

The founding families’ vision continues to live on in every aspect of Tinhorn Creek today. We hold the same values close to our hearts; to be responsible stewards for the land, our people, our community and the future. The strength of our team is what got us here, and it’s that same team who lead this next leg of the journey. Through our ongoing commitment to that original vision we pay homage to our roots and the ideals on which Tinhorn Creek was built.

Here’s too many more decades of growing the best grapes, making great wines to share with family and friends, and enjoying the trip along the way.

Making History | Golden Mile Bench Sub-Appellation

Spring 2015 marked an important moment in history for Tinhorn Creek Vineyards and BC wine. Recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Golden Mile Bench is the first official sub-appellation in BC. Winery owners along the Golden Mile, including Tinhorn Creek Vineyards' President Sandra Oilfield, spent years doing research to prove the distinctive terroir of the area and the unique characteristics of the wines from grapes grown along the Golden Mile Bench. Tinhorn Creek will be releasing their highly anticipated Gold Mile Bench Oldfield Series Chardonnay in Spring 2016.

Four time GOLD award-winning Miradoro Restaurant | Wine country cuisine in a spectacular setting

Perched on the picturesque Tinhorn Creek Vineyards estate on the famed Golden Mile, Miradoro Restaurant offers stunning views of the South Okanagan Valley wine country. Four-time Vancouver Magazine gold award winner for Best Winery/Vineyard Dining, the Mediterranean-influenced cuisine, by Executive Chef Jeff van Geest, showcases the region's finest and freshest local ingredients. The restaurant design seamlessly integrates a modern look with the natural landscape and the more traditional design of Tinhorn Creek’s winery and barrel cellar. The 4,000 square-foot space features 65 seats indoors and 65 seats outdoors on a wraparound deck, which offers spectacular views of the vineyards and valley below. Dine family style at Miradoro’s weekly themed communal table dinners, every Tuesday night throughout October, November, and December.

Celebrate the Arts | Canadian Concert Series brings drama, dance and art to Oliver schools

Tinhorn Creek Vineyards has recently launched their new charity, Celebrate the Arts, which funds music, drama, dance and fine arts programming for child in the local Oliver area. Tinhorn Creek Vineyards hope that the extra funding to local schools will pay for the expansion of current music programs to include repair and maintenance for instruments, the expansion of drama offerings with more theatre rental time, and the ability to bring in more dance and acting performers in school assemblies and more artists into the classrooms. Tinhorn Creek Vineyards will also be making in-kind donations such as the use of their outdoor amphitheatre, tasting room and barrel cellar for performances and rehearsals, use of the guest suite for visiting performers and encouraging students to perform at winery events. A portion of proceeds from the Tinhorn Creek Canadian Concert Series next season will go to Celebrate the Arts, as well as a portion of Tinhorn Creek’s annual revenue.
