La Bonta is a new venture by Chef patron Tim Austin and his wife Janet Lowndes, who are inviting food lovers to share in the bounty of quality produce, regional wines, and Italian flavours.

Tim Austin has had almost twenty years as a chef, with a strong background in fine dining.  He earned his apprenticeship stripes under Ian Hewitson and went on to work with Nico Ladenis (Chez Nico, England), and David Pitchford (Read’s, England).  While in the UK Tim was a regional finalist in the Gordon Ramsay Scholarship (2004).

After moving to central Victoria, Tim kept people well fed and looked after as the Executive Chef / Manager / Sommelier at the Royal George Hotel on Kyneton’s renowned Piper Street.

Tim is also a rare combination of chef and sommelier, so he expertly matches quality food and wine to create a unique dining experience.
