Uncork A New World with Forbidden Fruit & Dead Cellars Wines

Forbidden Fruit Winery is a family owned and operated boutique winery located on Ven’Amour Organic Farms, a certified organic tree fruit farm, vineyard and nature estate along the banks of the pristine Similkameen River in Cawston, British Columbia, Canada. The winery produces small lots of premium award winning tree fruit wines and grape wines from Similkameen and Okanagan fruit.

Forbidden Fruit Winery uses only certified organic and sustainably farmed fruit and production practices to handcraft the finest, purest and environmentally sensitive wines.  The winery’s name, Forbidden Fruit, is a reflection of both the Story of Creation and the new “Garden of Eden”.  The past status of organic products and fruit wines have both been categorized at times, as being only for the hobbyist. However, Like Eve in the garden, once tasted, a new empowerment is realized.

Certified Organic Farming for Clean, Quality Fruit

It all began with Kim and Steve in 1977 on raw, virgin bench land along the Similkameen River. Ven ‘Amour Organic Farms has been farmed organically since day one.  The farm was certified organic in 1984, the year certification began in B.C and is family operated.  The orchards and vineyards are planted on a gentle sloping hillside bordering the Similkameen River and are completely isolated from commercial farming areas. The family's joyful commitment to the stewardship of the land, programs of soil sustainability, farm sanitation and natural production, enable Kim and Steve to bring you the cleanest and finest quality fruit. The farm has been producing exotic tree fruit and grape varieties for over 40 years. The farm specializes in varieties of soft fruit from cherries, apricots, peaches, and plums to exotic varieties of apples, pears, and vinifera wine grapes.

Not Just a Fruit Winery - Introducing Dead End Cellars

Dead End Estate now produces premium grape wine from its own 4 acres of certified organic vineyard under the Dead End Cellar Series label.

In 1978, 1 year after starting Ven'Amour Organic Farms, Kim & Steve leased the small orchard at the dead end of the road.  The property is one of the original homesteads in the valley, sitting directly on the Similkameen River and butting right up to the U.S border.  Over the past three decades, the family replanted the orchards and also began planting wine grapes on the gentle hillside above the river.  Fast forward to 2014, Kim & Steve in collaboration with their son, Nathan Venables accomplished winemaker, purchased what has become known as Dead End Estate.
