From an invisible element emerges a force of nature that breathes life into the Cabernet Sauvignon of Horse Heaven Hills. The persistent wind that combs across the desert landscape sets this place apart from any other winegrowing region in Washington State, and brings an essence of balance, structure and elegance.

Horse Heaven Hills—this remote corner of the world is the birthplace of many prestigious, award-winning wines. However, the region has remained a well-kept secret for decades, in part because it has so few estate wineries; much of the fruit grown here is blended with fruit from other Washington appellations. With the goal of creating an authentic estate-grown wine, we discovered the perfect property in 2007, situated adjacent to the renowned Champoux Vineyard.

Double Canyon, named for two ravines that run through the property, exclusively produces an estate-grown wine that expresses the individuality of our vineyard in this distinctive windswept, desert appellation. The region’s first vines were originally planted in 1972 by Don and Linda Mercer, two of the area’s pioneering winegrowers. Our unique piece of land is now in the capable hands of William Beightol, a second-generation vineyard manager who grew up directly across the road from the property. If anyone understands the appellation’s climate, or the eccentricities of this one-of-a-kind property, it’s Will. His devotion to these vines is reflected in the exceptional, quality fruit he’s produced each vintage.
