We started off in 1987 when Michael Erceg came into the brewing industry. He set out to break the strangling duopoly of the two big brewers, a tradition we continue today. Michael was fiercely loyal to his staff and worked tirelessly at building his business until his tragic death in 2005 in a helicopter accident. His pioneering spirit can still be felt at the brewery on Boundary Road, which nestles in the foothills of the Hunua ranges south of Auckland. Here the great tradition of independent New Zealand brewing continues using natural ingredients and skilled brew masters.
The Boundary Road Brewery was bought in 2011 by Asahi, one of the world’s greatest brewers. In the brew house it’s business as usual as we channel our passion into creating some of New Zealand’s finest beers. The brewery has world class facilities with the stamp of approval from global brands Carlsberg, Tuborg, Holsten and Kingfisher that are brewed under licence. These are now being complemented by imported premium variants such as Asahi Super Dry, Budejovicky Budvar and Samuel Adams. The brewers are also immensely proud of their pet project, the recently launched Boundary Road Brewery range which is already home to some of New Zealand’s favourite craft beers.
