Award-Winning Canadian Wines from the Okanagan Valley

With our cool climate and unique terroir, we can make some pretty kick-a$$, award-winning wine that rival some of the top wines in the world. Steven Spurrier said it best about BC Wines, "Your wines are sensational!" It's a new and small wine region compared to the rest of the world, but they're gaining recognition from some of the top wine critics and competitions globally.

The Okanagan Valley has received numerous Canadian, Pacific Northwest and International awards over the years. In 1994, Mission Hill Family Estate’s 1992 Grand Reserve Chardonnay won Best Chardonnay Worldwide at London's International Wine & Spirit Competition. Since then, British Columbia wines have received international awards from Decanter World Wine Awards, Syrah du Monde and many others.

Canadian Wine Styles for Every Palate

What's remarkable about the Okanagan Valley is because it runs north and south, there are a wide range of grape varieties, soil types and varying climates in each sub-region. The style of wines you may find in the northern most region, Lake Country, is not what you'll find in the southern sub-regions like Osoyoos and the Valley's only official Sub-Region, the Golden Mile Bench. There are 8,620 acres of vines, 174 licensed wineries and over a dozen common grape varieties. In the Okanagan Valley you'll find everything from modest family-run boutique wineries to larger scale, world-class operations.

Whether you enjoy aromatic white wines; light bodied reds like Pinot Noir and Gamay; dry-style; fruit forward Rosé wines; or ripe, rich red blends, there is something for every wine drinker to love from the Okanagan Valley.
