Two More Bottles of Wine was first released in April of 1978 by country music legend, Emmylou Harris. The song was written by Delbert McClinton and soared to #1 on the charts that year on the US Country Billboard and the Canadian RPM Country Track.

In December of 2018 Blake Shelton revived Two More Bottles of Wine with contestant Chris Kroeze on NBC’s reality show, “The Voice.”

It’s true test of time that 40 years later this song is still popular. Of course, we like to think that any song about wine is destined to be an hit today and for generations to come. Need proof? Well, there’s Red Red Wine, originally sung by Neil Diamond then covered by UB40. That song will never die! Kick back with a bottle of wine and enjoy these video performances and the lyrics.

Lyrics for Two More Bottles of Wine

We came out west together with a common desire
The fever we had migtha set the West Coast on fire
Two months later got trouble in mind
Oh my baby moved out and left me behind

But it’s all right ’cause it’s midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

The way he left sure turned my head around
Seemed like overnight it just up and put me down
Well I ain’t gonna let it bother me today
I’ve been workin’ and I’m too tired anyway

But it’s all right, midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

Well I’m sixteen hundred miles from the people I know
Have been doin’ all I can but opportunity sure come slow
Well I’d be in the sun all day
But I’m sweepin’ out a warehouse in West L.A.

But it’s all right ’cause it’s midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

I’m sixteen hundred miles from the people I know
Been doin’ all I can but opportunity sure come slow
Lord, I’d be in the sun all day
But I’m sweepin’ out a warehouse in West L.A

But it’s all right, midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine
