North America totals at 9,872 wineries across the continent.

It’s an amazing time for wine in North America. The continent has shown its massive footprint in the wine industry by amassing a total of almost 10K wineries across the United States, Canada and Mexico. According to the new 2017 Directory & Buyer’s Guide from Wines & Vines magazine there are now officially 9,872 wineries in North America. U.S. wineries totaled 9,091; the Canadian total was 692, and the Mexico count was 89.

With California sitting at 4,202 wineries, it is leading the leading state with the most wineries in the United States of America, followed by Washington State containing 747 wineries. In Canada, British Columbia takes the number 1 spot with 309 wineries total within the province with Ontario being the runner up with 236 wineries.
